HIGH WAY ONE
This is a team project about embedding innovation to News industry. Recently, news itself becomes big news. There are lots of discussions about credibility of news and bias embedded into news. After using various methods to help us clarify the situation right now, we get insights about confusion of news readers and then explore opportunities, and plan business development to build a new service to solve those problems.

UNDERSTANDING CONTEXT
First, our team try to understand News industry at macro level. We did secondary research and collect a lot data. Then, we use a few frameworks to sort out the data and make sense out of it.
Era Analysis

There are layers of elements along the timeline which are be related to the change t of News industry, like relationship between user and news , emerging business, technology, and critical events. By building this diagram, we can have a basic contextual understanding of the factors that are related to the development of News.
Orthodoxies
We also build a orthodoxies diagram and try to find what could News be. We describe News from three aspects here, users' perception, News' features, and the way of advertising. It inspires us to form the concepts for the new generation of News.

FROM INSIGHTS TO OPPORTUNITIES
In the process of making sense of data, we keep ask three important questions: what is viable, what is possible, and what is desirable for the future. The answers of these three questions would address some key features of business, and help us develop our concepts.

When we feel understand enough of the context of News industry, we try different methods to seek opportunities for innovation. We can create Hunting Ground to explore emerging opportunities. In Hunting Ground, we define the target customers and show the transformation that we will make to fulfill the unmet customer needs.

Value Proposition
In the end, we notice that people get their news in piecemeal ways today, and it is a problem. We decide to build a product that allow readers to stay up to date on meaningful stories, offering clear narrative, and explains potential impact. We use value proposition to clarify our offering.

Here is a snapshot of how our product look like. Reader can stay up to date on stories and easily switch from one story line to another. Besides, they can pick news source worldwide.

Then, we use business Model to build other components around value proposition. It describes the rationale of how our business creates, delivers,and captures value.

Value web helps us understand the value exchange in News industry and clarify the potential options for creating new value. It represents our role in whole News system.

Comparing to old experience model, our new business add new features and experience for readers and publishers.

Precursors/Competitors
Contexly is building follow up service. They email timeline to readers with links to publishers’ websites. Their product is not good from user experience’ points of view. But it implies the market demand which is people want some service for news updating.
